■  SIMBRA COW GROUP OF THE YEAR - Andries & Jacques Swart from Malemba Simbras receive the LAND BANK Landbouweekblad / Breedplan Southern African award
for Simbra Cow Group of the Year 2016.  This award is based on the following criteria:

The Land Bank Cow Group of the Year competition is a within-breed competition.
Every breeder nominates a group of 10 cows
Three cows are allowed to have records on two calvings. The rest must have had at least 4 calves, and weaned at least 3 calves.
Traits such as age at first calf, inter calving period and growth performance will be considered, when judging the animals.
A ratio of 60:40 for Reproduction:Performance is recommended, but every breed society is free to decide about this.
An index (similar to the Simdex, used by the Simmentaler/Simbra Breed Society) will be used when judging the Reproduction, which includes Age at first calf and
                  inter calving period.
Knowledgeable people from BREEDPLAN, the Industry and the University of the Free State will be available for support should the breed society require any.
